Mission Statement

Our mission at Claudia’s Christian Montessori Academy preschool is to provide the most adequate level of education available, and to strive to offer a quality Montessori Philosophy, Materials and Curriculum. Claudia’s Christian Montessori Academy strives to ensure that the children feel free to explore and develop a love for learning, and feel as comfortable as home. Our program is geared to illuminate young minds and to arouse their curiosity which fosters a desire to participate wholly in all aspects of the curriculum.

Purpose

Claudia's Christian Montessori Academy offers a unique program to provide young children a safe, rich and mentally stimulating environment that is warm, loving, and supportive. Each child's interest and own rate of learning and development is nurtured based on their individual curiosity as they gain self awareness and independence.

We believe these goals can be fulfilled through carefully tailored, planned sequential, structured individualized and through group interaction. We also believe children within a Montessori environment are more exposed to the simplicities of everyday life through hands on applications in a more true to home setting balanced with their autonomous academic experience.

We believe they will acquire a more positive self image, self assurance, and a well rounded joy for the learning experience which they will carry with them on throughout their further academic endeavors and beyond.

Objective

To provide a prepared environment in which the purpose may be achieved, to provide an instructional program that follows a Montessori curriculum, and to provide support and education for the child in an environment conducive to learning.

To enable the child to develop and enhance the  academic, social, and behavioral constructs, attitudes, habits, and ideas which are vitally essential for a lifetime of educational and practical learning.

The Montessori Way

 The Montessori way of education was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, Italy's first female physician. She opened her initial school(the Casa dei Bambini) in 1907 beginning with three to six year olds. Fundamental to the Montessori concept is a deep respect for the child's fluent ability to learn. She also recognized that the absorbent mind (as she termed it), at this early phase,  go through certain stages during which they learn more easily than at any other time in their lives.

This innate potential to learn is dependent upon a loving environment that encourages an active pursuit of acquiring knowledge. Montessori is a developmentally appropriate approach to learning and is designed to fit each child instead of making each child fit into a traditional preset program.

What is the Montessori Method?
This an approach to education which takes into broad consideration the total potential of a child; socially, mentally, physically and emotionally.


The "Absorbent Mind"?
The absorbent mind refers to the child's tremendous, innate ability to absorb ideas, concepts and knowledge from the environment.


The sensitive periods?
These are periods of unusual sensitivity to learning - which every child passes through on his way to adulthood. Dr. Montessori noted these periods of intense interest in learning specific skills and referred to them as periods of specific maturation aptness. She observed that the sensitive period for reading and writing occurs between 3 and 5 years of age.

The Montessori concept of discipline?
The Montessori discipline is an "inner discipline." The child develops control over his own behavior through his work with the Montessori materials. Dr. Montessori noted that so many so called discipline problems occur when children were really frustrated by lack of proper, constructive and intellectual stimulation. When a child's intellectual and creative energies are utilized in a constructive manner there is no energy left over for deviate behavior.
